In the late 1970's Lamborghini was in a sorry state, having fallen into receivership, though thankfully the Italian Government had made the wise decision of keeping the company going. Nevertheless, Lamborghini was in desperate need of new funds, with only the Countach left in production after the Espada finally ended its run in 1978, so they were forced to look for external contracts. One such contract ultimately gave the world it's first Lamborghini 4x4 vehicle!
